Of all the lessons to learn from Coco Chanel this one is by far my favorite: “A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.” What does classy mean to you? To me, classy means sophisticated and chic. It means living a life full of grace and authenticity. If you could only use a couple words to describe me I certainly hope that classy would be at the top of the list. Creating an outfit full of class means much more than what you wear, but that certainly does have a lot to do with it. Today I’m sharing some of my tried and true tips to creating a classy outfit that will have you looking and feeling your best!
#1 – Less is more.
Assembling a chic outfit doesn’t mean you have to go all out with color and accessories. I am a firm believer in keeping things simple and not over-accessorizing. I love taking this minimalist approach and embracing simplicity, whether that be in the colors or jewelry I put on. Malyia McNaughton takes this same approach when creating their accessories; one of the many reasons why I’m so in love with what they have! Wearing jewelry is wonderful, but over-adorning can detract from your overall goal of looking classy.
#2 – It’s all about the details.
When pulling together an outfit with the minimalist approach, considering the details becomes top priority. Whether it’s a touch of lace or a delicate ring, those details will be the star of your outfit. I loved to feature this Malyia McNaughton jewelry ring and ear jackets. Their modern and unique olive leaf design immediately became something I wanted to focus on in this outfit. The quality is fantastic and with gorgeous 14K plated gold details on top of sterling silver for under $75 you can’t go wrong!
#3 – Keep it sophisticated.
If you’re looking for a classy outfit, try bringing in pieces that are timeless and sophisticated. I love to incorporate trends here and there, but the outfits I can’t get enough of that of a sophisticated style. When you take the “less is more” approach, the lines of an outfit become that much more apparent. Structuring your outfit with a blazer, a striking neckline, or a sleek pencil skirt will keep you looking full of class.
#4 – It doesn’t matter what you wear, it’s about the heart.
As much as I love fashion and putting together an outfit that makes me feel awesome, confidence and comes from within. If you’re looking to bring class to your outfit, then acting in that same way should be your primary focus. What’s in your heart will exude from the inside-out. Pay attention to how you carry yourself with your posture, the words you speak with grace and most of all your smile. Live a life full of positivity and authenticity. Dress modestly where it fits, stay true to yourself and always act with authenticity in mind. Your heart will by far outshine any clothes you put on!
I’d love to hear from you! What does staying classy mean to you and how to you make it a part of your daily outfits?
Keep smiling!
